Horizon School joined Chinook's Edge School Division in the fall of 2006 having previously operated as a congregated special needs private school. At Horizon School, there is a rich history and a long tradition of providing quality educational programming for students with a variety of specialized needs, including communication difficulties, social emotional behavioural needs and developmental delays.
Through collaboration and consultation with community schools, Horizon develops alternate programming designed to develop deficit skill areas that will lead to increased success in traditional school settings or in transition to adulthood. These areas may include communication skills, functional life skills and self-regulation.
As a school of support for Chinook’s Edge School Division, Horizon does not directly register students. Families seeking programming to support their child’s exceptional needs should register with the Chinook's Edge school located within their community.
